People to watch out for…Detroit Area, John Beck aka John Lakeya, John Thompson, Beck Automotive

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Back on April 26, 2010, I purchased a set of “done” Pontiac 76 1965 only cylinder heads from a John Lakeya in Highland, MI. They were paid for with a Money Order. I never recieved them. This was thru eBay and they did cover the purchase. I did recieve one email saying he was having some personal problems but that was it. Of course, his eBay account had no phone number and just a zip code. I needed these heads and now am forced into doing another set. He has been removed from eBay. If anybody knows of this person and how to contact him, I would greatly appreciate an email. Thanks!

UPDATE: This person goes by many other names including John Beck, John Thompson and Beck Automotive. He apparently advertises on craigslist in the Detroit area.  His phone number is 248-390-4190. He lives off of Milford Road and Michigan 59.   Has a black 67 Bonneville in his yard. WATCH OUT!  He is a complete lying piece of shit screwing a lot of good people.  He is well know in the Detroit area as a true hunk of shit.  I was contacted thru this site by a really nice person who has been screwed by this same person.  Lets see if we can put this hunk of crap out of business.  THANK YOU!

Troubles with Website……..

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Hi:  I am having troubles with this website as it was built on an incorrect base.  It was built on a WordPress base, which is a blog based website.  It should have been built on a base such as Magenta.  I am sorry it is so hard to order parts or naviagate the parts for sale area.  I put my trust in a person who apparently was not well versed in website construction.  I believe he meant well, but he used an incorrect format.  Because of this, I have not really been able to update certain areas with new information and photos.  This will change over the next few months.  There may be times when the website is down for major upgrades and changes.  The good news is that when it’s finished, it will be so much better for all of us.  Also, I would like to take this time to thank all of you that have written about the site.  It feels good to know I am doing something to help people out.   It’s been a tough year for parts and car sales.  I thank those who have purchased items as it keeps this effort going forward.  My partner in the reproduction end of things, Les Kapaun, has always been a true friend and his efforts are endless.  Thanks to all and PLEASE get out and vote this year.   Thank you!  Les Kasten

Second Reproduction Part in the works!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

PontiacParadise.com is set to release its second reproduction part…the 1965-1968 Z-Bar Bellhousing Bracket with or without Ball Stud.  This part was being provided in the last couple years by a person fabricating them and selling in Smoke Signals.  They functioned correctly however did not look like the original item.  He ran out and apparently did not want to make any more so we stepped in and made our an exact reproduction.  As with all our reproduction parts, they are made in the USA right here in the Twin Cities and use US made steel.   This bracket bolts to the bellhousing and holds up the Z-Bar on the engine side for 65-68 full size cars.  Price is $64.95 w/o the ball stud or $81.95 with.  Shipping is $5.05 USPS Priority Mail.  These will start shipping on April 12, 2010.   Call Les at 651-280-9681 to order now.

New 8 Lug Re-Lining Service!

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

My friend Larry Groskopf in New Lenox, IL has started a service for the re-lining of your 8 lug drums.  There are others who do this however I have heard complaints to their quality control.  Larry has over 25 years experince in fabrication and installs new liners using the shrink fit method.  The cost is cheaper than others too.  Fronts are $225 each and that includes new races and bearings!  Rears are $200 each.  He can also change out your studs, bead blast and more.  Please contact Larry at 815-462-4002 or email him at lgto67@yahoo.com  Be sure to tell him you saw it here on roller derby!

USA verses China Reproduction Parts

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

As some of you may have noticed, PontiacParadise.com is starting to reproduce certain items sorely needed in the restoration of our cars. For the past two years, I have sworn I was going to the SEMI Show in Las Vegas. I had registered for both shows and even obtained hotel rooms. Both years, I have passed at the last moment. The intent was to go to the huge amount of vendors, mainly from China, to obtain reproduction parts at some sort of cheap price. It breaks my heart that the most industrialized country in the world can’t even make it’s own TV sets, much less somewhat easy car parts.

Therefore, myself and my partner in making these parts, old friend Les Kapaun, have made a commitment that all the parts we do will be made right here in the USA. And if possible, right here in the Twin Cities. Les has many good ideas, manufacturing skills and earned my respect many years ago. We will proudly place MADE IN USA stickers on all the parts we make. I urge other people planning reproduction parts to do the same. In this time of total uncertainty in our economy, we really need to keep US dollars in the US. We need to help create jobs and feel good about what we are doing. Rest assured that PontiacParadise.com will do this until the end. Thanks! Les Kasten
